This easy homemade peanut sauce came to fruition after I was trying to make a tahini sauce only to discover that, tragically, we had ran out of tahini.

I was in my pajamas, hadn’t taken a shower in two days, my baby was asleep in his crib, and there was NO way I was leaving the house to pick up some tahini. I thought about ordering some online from Whole Foods and having an Instacart delivery person bring it directly to my doorstep… but that sounded time-consuming and complicated.

Instead, I said “Screw the tahini!” and opted for a peanut sauce. (PS: I still love you, tahini.)

Luckily, I also had all of the other ingredients on-hand too… so the stars aligned and this peanut sauce came to life! Drizzle this on your roasted veggies, use as a dip for spring rolls, or pour into your next soba noodle dish for a tasty treat.

Easy Homemade Peanut Sauce

Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 16 tbsp.


  • 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. rice vinegar


  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk until smooth.
